Job Summary
The Aluminum Plate Product Manager will be responsible for working closely with the production, sales, and supply chain teams for aluminum plate products. This role requires a solution-oriented mindset and the ability to build and lead a team of management and non-management team members. The Aluminum Plate Product Manager will focus on identifying and implementing improvements within the aluminum plate processing business, aiming to increase safety, efficiency, productivity, and quality by streamlining workflows, eliminating waste, and optimizing operations.This role reports to Aluminum Product Director

Job Description
This role is responsible for US and Canada (companywide), focused on Eastern half of US
Prefer red domicile cities of Interest for the ideal candidate:
Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Cleveland, Hartford

Key Responsibilities
Operations:
· Drive improvement in plate processing operations, including equipment such as plate saws, water jets, routers, and CNCs. Strong engagement with equipment manufacturers and associated products like blades, lubricants, garnet, and cutting tools.
· Develop standard operating procedures and methods for plate processing across all sites, with a focus on scrap reduction/increased plate utilization, having a positive impact on margins.
· Analyze processes to pinpoint bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and potential areas for optimization.
· Gather data on process performance, develop and analyze metrics, and use insights to inform improvement strategies.
· Select and motivate plate processing team members, fostering collaboration and providing training on process improvement tools and techniques.
· Communicate proposed changes to all stakeholders, manage resistance, and ensure smooth implementation of process improvements.
· Track the effectiveness of implemented changes and adjust as needed.
· Lead efforts to optimize plate utilization by manual or software applications.
Sales/Purchasing:
· Make sales calls and build relationships with producers and suppliers of associated products.
· Develop key partnerships with Equipment OEM suppliers.
· Support the Sales and Marketing plans for plate products in all regions, recommending strategic direction to sales leadership.
· Support sales quotes and contracts, both internally and across supply chain.
· Collaborate closely with the Aluminum Product Director, supply chain team, and mills.
· Support buying team in planning material to meet stated demand plans.
· Understand the global plate supply base, including contract and general costing information.
Leadership:
· Drive a safety culture throughout the plate processing workflow.
· Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) such as total pounds sold, items per man hour, plate pounds per man hour, scrap as a percentage of plate pounds shipped, plate packaging cost per pound, plate tooling costs, daily backlog performance, and on-time in-full (OTIF) delivery.
· Lead and influence other leaders to create adoption of team changes.
· Present results upward and across the organization
Qualifications Required:
· BA/BS degree in business related field or minimum 10 years experience in related field such as sales, operations, purchasing or management roles.
· Strong team building skills, develop positive working relationships across all regions of the business as well as OEM partnerships.
· Solution oriented mindset
· Strong computer skills to support data driven decision making.
· Safety First and a Continuous Improvement Mindset
· Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
· Ability to plan, execute, and monitor process improvement projects.
· Understand business operations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and financial implications of process changes
· Ability to travel up to 50% of the year across the United States and Canada
Qualifications Preferred:
· MBA
· Relationships with producers and suppliers
· Experience operating plate processing equipment preferred.
· Knowledge of material handling equipment, including receiving containers, conveyor systems to move plate, automated packing lines, and automated piece retrieval (water jet)
· Experience making sales calls
Job Compensation
$120,000-135,000 + 25% Bonus Incentive
