Job Summary
Manages the flow of traffic to foreign destinations, including customs documentation and transportation. Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment and documentation of exported products. Negotiates with foreign clients to develop freight-handling agreements, to resolve problems, and settlements. Contacts customs officials to resolve delays.Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Represents the company and maintains relationships with customs agencies and external customs counsel.
- Recommends and maintains company-wide export policies, procedures, and controls in order to ensure compliance with U.S. imports/export regulations.
- Performs periodic audits to evaluate compliance levels and effectiveness of procedures, policies, and controls.
- Educates various departments on customs compliance through presentations, procedures, memos, and conversations and keeps abreast of new international free trade agreements benefiting the organization.
- Manages NAFTA compliance program to ensure compliance with NAFTA regulations.
- 2-5 years working in Import / Customs brokerage / trade consulting
- Advanced knowledge of tariff classification, especially in metals, manufacturing/machinery, industrial applications
- Experience with core import / export operations such as valuation, tariff classification, country of origin determination and marking; recordkeeping; post-summary audit/corrections; process documentation; Incoterms
- Knowledgeable in all modes of transport: air, ocean, truck, rail; including Southern border operations
- Understanding of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, related party value/transfer pricing, or Export Controls a plus
- Comfortable working as part of a team but with ability to drive change independently as internal Subject Matter Expert for Trade
- Processes RCCA for all escapes that involve export (RCCA)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attend training Export Compliance Training Institute (ECTI) pass required test within two years. (Company paid)
- Travel to export training & Meeting with other tk personal twice a year
- Provides assistance to internal and external personnel concerning order status and special customer needs.
- Acts as an expediter to resolve delivery problems.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Knowledge of export regulations and procedures.
- Computer skills are required (MS Word, MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP).
- 2-5 years working in Import / Customs brokerage / trade consulting
- Advanced knowledge of tariff classification, especially in metals, manufacturing/machinery, industrial applications.
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with many levels of the corporation as well as individuals outside the corporation at various levels.
- Must be able to think critically, troubleshoot, and problem-solve.
- Must have good planning and organizational skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be able to analyze and interpret complex regulations.
- Must be adept at multi-tasking.
Job Compensation
$70K - $95K
