Your responsibilities
The Logistics Engineer designs, implements, and executes continuous improvement initiatives that optimize cost structures, improve productivity and product throughput, streamlines processes, and improves service and performance metrics across all operations within Materials and Logistics. Designs, analyzes and implements supply chain solutions to solve complex logistics problems for distribution of materials and finished goods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes and improves manufacturing & warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, storage, retrieval and distribution.
- Identifies annual cost savings opportunities.
- Supports continuous improvement of operational and financial logistics performance.
- Designs, develops, validates, and implements methods and tools that improve operational flexibility and execution of a lean production systems using appropriate lean logistics concepts including data analysis and KPI’s
- Modifies and improves existing logistics systems such as material flow, storage and information flow.
- Supports Logistics teams in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain.
- Collaborates with Lean Facilitator and other managers to identify improvement opportunities for workshops and actively participates in workshops.
- Collaborates with other Logistic professionals across all thyssenkrupp locations to optimize best in class shipping, receiving, and warehousing processes.
- Acts as liaison with all other worldwide Bilstein facilities.
- Creation of Process Designs and Functional Designs for SAP changes.
- Leads a project team for new improvement projects
- Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.
- Works with the IT department to implement new or system changes. Identifies resources and communicates system requirements and timelines.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Your profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain, transportation and logistics concepts.
- Proven experience independently performing complex routing, fleet sizing analysis and warehouse design and layout for multiple projects.
- Thorough knowledge in MRP systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of Lean Logistics and modern Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Good understanding of computer systems validation concepts, change control procedures and SD, LE, EWM, MM and PP modules of SAP and familiarity with configuration and customization standards required.
- Knowledge and ability to synthesize new and emerging technologies into manageable and practical applications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects in a team based environment and operational setting.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Proven experience managing and delivering complex projects within scope, budget and on time.
- Flexibility and adaptability with respect to changing work schedules.
- Demonstrated discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, procedures.
- Independent & organized work style with the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work responsibilities, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, and meet deadlines.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) and data tools like Power BI.
- Proficiency in creating interactive dashboards and reports to monitor KPIs, process timing, and cost improvement initiatives.
- Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
- Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
- Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.
