Your responsibilities

Summary:

The Team Lead provides support to the Production Supervisor in the day-to-day running and operation of the business. This includes the overseeing and motivating of your team, and the supervision of the production output to meet thyssenkrupp Bilstein standards. This position is a leadership role and requires the ability to run a team both safely and effectively while still meeting customer and company needs/standards. The Team Lead leads by example and supports an environment and culture within thyssenkrupp Bilstein where the customer and safety are firmly at the center of everything that we do.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Supervises up to 25 full-time and temporary employees, and ensures they are all properly trained.
  • Assists with investigation of root cause and implement countermeasures for all QIR’s.
  • Ensure all machines are operational and ready for production.
  • In the event of employee absence (i.e. vacation) coordinates manpower to ensure needs are met.
  • Identifies discrepant materials/components both in writing and verbally to supervisor.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to assemblers, and assigns duties.
  • In the event of an abnormal event, takes immediate action, including fixing / repairing and reporting the problem to supervisor.
  • Make sure new temporary and full-time employees are trained appropriately and follow safety standards.
  • Reviews daily production numbers, quality problems, equipment failure downtime and ensure reporting on the electronic production reporting system MES.
  • Direct and checks Line Leader’s daily job and take corrective action if necessary.
  • Reduces any potential occupational hazards by following safety strategies.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Successful tenure and experience as a Line Lead within thyssenkrupp Bilstein.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands. This would include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members.
  • Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Position is required to be able to to work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods.
  • Position is required to be able to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitious duties and walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrates reliability, independent initiative, commitment and a quality focus.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Strong demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

General Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-12 hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitious duties and walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to access materials and operate equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements for paint application tasks.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs or ladders as needed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks while ensuring even application and quality control.
  • Sufficient visual ability to inspect painted surfaces for proper coverage, appearance, and cosmetic defects.
  • Awareness of surroundings in a manufacturing setting with moving equipment and production processes.

Work Environment & Sensory Conditions:

  • Exposure to paint fumes, airborne particles, and industrial noise; engineered exhaust system in the area prevents the requirement for a respirator.
  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled or varying temperature manufacturing environment.
