Your responsibilities
The Field Service Advisor is responsible for inspecting the mechanical condition and alignment of rotary kilns, horizontal and vertical grinding mills, material handling and processing equipment, and any other heavy machinery typically found in cement and mining facilities. The Field Service Advisor is also responsible in making maintenance and repair recommendations and providing assistance or supervision for equipment installation and repairs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site measurements and inspections.
- Ensure that Company safety policies, including all procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to at all times.
- Analyze and interpret measurement data and inspection results. Prepare written reports for customer use that detail measurement and inspection results and provide the basis for parts and service recommendations.
- Meet with customer representatives, such as engineers or plant managers, to discuss equipment condition and provide recommendations regarding replacement of parts, scheduled maintenance and/or repair needs.
- Guide and advise others in performing equipment installation, inspection, and maintenance efforts.
- Troubleshoot and assist in repairing mechanical and process related problems with tkIS Polysius and competitors OEM equipment.
- Visit customer sites to maintain and improve customer relationships together with Sales staff.
- Assist with Service proposal work for Advisor and Supervisory activities.
- Develop work procedures to repair, disassemble and assemble equipment for future use.
- Prepare and submit job required paper records (timesheets, expense reports etc.).
- Support function of Field Supervisor work incl. planning and coordination of job execution and occasional on-site support in Supervisory role if required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This is an advisory position with no direct subordinates. Advisors are occasionally responsible for the day-to-day supervision of company repair crew employees for specific limited-duration projects.
Your profile
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology; or three to four years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advisory or Supervisory experience in a construction environment, ideally in cement, paper, or mining.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Dedication to safe and environmentally compliant work.
- This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data, mechanical equipment, drawings, machine manuals, specifications, blueprints, and job proposals.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to respond quickly, decisively, and appropriately to equipment problems is particularly important.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MSHA trained and knowledge of MSHA regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic or electrical drawings is desirable.
- Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Surveying experience.
Travel Demands:
- This position requires extensive travel to customer locations throughout the United States. Employee is regularly required to be away from home for several weeks at a time.
- Travel outside the United States including Canada, South America, and Caribbean Islands, may be required, but is not routine.
- Ability to travel and work overtime (including nights, weekends, and holidays along with working outdoors in all weather conditions).
- Candidate must possess a Valid U.S. Driver’s license.
- Optional International Travel.
