Your responsibilities
As the Head of AI at AIMS, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping our AI initiatives. You will have the unique opportunity to build a team from the ground up and drive the development of transformative AI solutions for the maritime sector. Your expertise will guide our team to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge AI technologies that redefine the possibilities within marine systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead the new AI development unit, AIMS, recruiting, training, and managing a talented team of AI specialists.
- Drive the development of AI-based solutions tailored to maritime challenges, including autonomous underwater navigation, ship recognition, and advanced data analytics.
- Design, train, and optimize complex AI models for maritime applications.
- Develop and implement processes and workflows for AI research, validation, and deployment.
- Identify and explore new business opportunities, collaborating closely with AIMS’ Steering Committee and Management Board. Engage with potential customers and partners, understanding their needs to deliver bespoke AI solutions.
- Prepare proposals and presentations for prospective clients while cultivating a network of industry contacts and fostering long-term customer relationships.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the parent company on all AI-related topics, including strategic planning, technology implementation, and ethical considerations.
Your profile
- Extensive experience in developing AI-driven solutions, ideally in a technical or industrial environment.
- Proven initial experience in leadership roles, such as team or project management.
- Background in consultancy, especially in the field of AI, is a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently to provide on-site client support, attend conferences, and engage in trade show networking.
- Strong business development skills, with a proven ability to market complex AI solutions and identify new business opportunities for AIMS.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable and engaging way.
- Proficiency in both German and English (written and spoken).
