Summary:
Industrialization Engineers lead manufacturing industrialization of new products and custom production equipment following acquisition-phase handover through supplier execution, equipment validation, production launch and formal handover. Accountable for technical performance, approved project costs and established milestones, including final equipment acceptance and supplier payment authorization in accordance with internal standards.
Essential Duties:
- Lead industrialization activities for assigned new programs and capital equipment projects from post-acquisition handover through production launch and formal transfer to Operations and Maintenance.
- Review and execute approved project scope, equipment requirements, technical specifications, budgets, milestone schedules and acceptance criteria established during acquisition; refine technical deliverables as needed.
- Maintain and manage the established project timeline and milestones following the acquisition phase, including design reviews, fabrication, FAT, shipment, installation, SAT, process validation and production readiness. Monitor supplier progress and critical-path activities, coordinate recovery actions and escalate schedule risks affecting program launch commitments.
- Monitor and control assigned project costs against the approved capital budget established during the acquisition phase. Track purchase commitments, actual expenditures, supplier change requests, forecasts and cost-to-complete; evaluate cost impacts, communicate variances and coordinate corrective actions to maintain approved financial targets.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and technical proposals with Purchasing; document scope changes, assess cost and schedule impacts, and obtain required approvals before commitments.
- Manage custom machine builders and integrators through design, fabrication, installation and commissioning; lead technical reviews, resolve open items and verify supplier deliverables against approved requirements.
- Lead FAT/SAT, commissioning and performance validation against defined safety, quality, cycle-time, capacity, capability and reliability criteria; require corrective actions for deficiencies.
- Coordinate launch readiness, tooling, controls, maintenance training, spare parts and documentation; confirm production performance and complete formal technical handover to Operations and Maintenance.
- Lead cross-functional launch readiness reviews and coordinate tooling, controls, maintenance, training, spare parts, documentation and production support to ensure a controlled ramp-up.
- Develop and validate process and quality specifications through manufacturing trials, ensuring repeatable processes that meet production targets and application requirements.
- Develop manufacturing layouts, production flow, assembly methods and equipment concepts that improve operator ergonomics, safety, capacity and efficiency.
- Create standardized work instructions, standard-time data and process documentation supporting target production cycle times.
- Coordinate equipment modifications, installation and technical assessments of machine suppliers, contractors and consulting engineers.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and engineering teams on plant trials, troubleshooting, waste reduction, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Prepare technical and project status reviews covering schedule, budget, risks, decisions, actions and launch readiness for management and stakeholders.
- Participate in safety reviews and ensure activities comply with applicable company standards, procedures and policies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline and applicable experience.
- Possesses and demonstrates a mindset for safety for themselves and those around them.
- Demonstrated experience leading new manufacturing program launches and capital equipment projects through commissioning, validation and production handover.
- Experience managing custom automation or machine-building suppliers, including design reviews, technical specifications, FAT/SAT and equipment acceptance.
- Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment and complex controls, including technical problem solving, supplier coordination and managing projects against approved scope, cost and schedule baselines.
- Proven experience in a process, project engineering and/or production capacity with hands-on experience implementing full-function, complex control systems and applications on automated assembly processes. Strong project management skills with proven ability to plan, monitor, and control a project from start to finish ensuring everyone meets their deadlines.
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to manufacturing safety and performance.
- Is curious, a quick learner and driven to fill gaps in working knowledge. Is motivated by working in an environment that changes rapidly.
- Demonstrated creativity in solving problems, especially simple, effective, long-lived solutions.
- Proven record of accomplishments working with teams – both leading and as a member.

- Ability to comprehend drawings and GD&T along with some awareness of CAD software. Solid understanding of Lean Principles (6S, Kaizen, Kanban, SMED).
- Must be self-motivated, with a desire to continuously improve, learn and provide creative solutions.
- Experience with coordination and presentation of technical data and information to key component suppliers & customers.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
- Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.
- Ability to assess documented equipment acceptance criteria and authorize supplier payment milestones in accordance with internal procedures and approval controls.
Domestic and international travel of approximately 20–50 days annually may be required for supplier reviews, equipment acceptance testing, commissioning and new program launches.
