Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the job as summarised below, but not limited to:
- Preform the technical function aligned with the qualifications and experience of a senior designer within your discipline on projects and proposals.
- At a senior designer level, the individual must be competent and experienced in solving problems of low to medium level complexity. This individual should be competent to work independently on project tasks such as layouts, schedules and simple calculations / deliverables and should be able to work semi-independently on complex engineering design problems and deliverables. A senior designer should be fully competent in the field engineering aspects (activities and deliverables) associated with their discipline, including E3D model development associated with their discipline scope.
- Experience in basic and detail engineering deliverables and activities.
- Develop and check discipline specific project deliverables.
- Perform discipline specific project activities related to the scope of a project and guide junior staff in these activities.
- Knowledgeable in project standards, engineering and technical specifications.
- Execution of deliverables / activities in accordance with quality requirements and applicable legislation, codes and standards and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with the 4-eye checking and approval process.
- Report on project progress to the lead engineer / discipline manager, project engineering manager and project manager.
- Provide input to the discipline manager / HoD engineering for capacity planning.
- Contribute innovative ideas for enhancing design procedures.
- Assist in developing training material (manuals and presentations) and actively support skills and knowledge transfer.
- Assist a senior engineer / discipline manager with tasks that support the proposal efforts.
- Provide technical specifications for electrical equipment.
- Identify and quantify technical risks.
- Start building a network with the global Uhde engineering team.
- Embrace teamwork sharing and technical knowledge sharing and support with other Uhde execution offices.
- Mentor junior staff in the discipline and across the engineering department
- Assist in developing systems and software to increase departmental efficiency and accuracy to obtain consistency across projects.
- Communication with the Engineering department team members (within and outside of your specific discipline)
- Implement and grow the company`s values specifically diversity, compliance and inclusiveness.
Your profile
Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Trade Test qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Additional Training Requirements:
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Proficiency with discipline software programs.
Years of Experience:
- National Diploma: Should have a minimum of 10 years’ relevant design experience in a contracting environment focused on projects in the petro-chemical / chemical industry.
- Experience will be evaluated on the number of projects executed and completed and not just on years of experience. The position and responsibilities of the individual for each project will be evaluated.
