Your responsibilities
Summary
The Process/Quality Engineer-Forging reports to Forging Engineering Manager and is responsible for overseeing the quality of parts produced on the line, devising corrective actions to address quality issues, and conveying information to the larger team.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Review quality of parts produced
- Take action to address quality concerns
- Train on identification of quality issues and provide work instructions
- Lead all problem solving activities
- Provide technical support for Process and Quality
- Coalesce Quality and Process handshake
Specific Responsibilities of the Job
- Address quality issues on the line and troubleshoot issues
- Take necessary actions to address quality concerns such as following up with the customer
- Conduct capability analysis
- Teach quality portion of new hire orientation
- Writes work process instructions and supports development of visual plant and work guides.
- Enter certification paperwork
- Manage corrective actions
- Provide technical support for engineering related Die Shop and Manufacturing problems for Danville Forge and Veedersburg Forge
- Provide Process Engineering Change notices for internal process changes
- Provide expert advice without formal supervisory responsibilities
- Instruct and train on methods and procedures when necessary
- Monitors manufacturing operations, including analyzing short and long term process trends, by championing continuous improvement and making process change recommendations.
- Maintains and updates key metrics for continuous improvement and production efficiency
- Applies statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes and production standards
Standards of Performance
- Address quality issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Convey information effectively in orientations and work instructions
- Maintain scrap PPM
- Develop innovative solutions and improvements
- Develops innovative solutions and improvements that may increase die life, reduce press tonnage, and increase process efficiency
- Reduces set-up downtime
- Responds and solves technical issues in a timely manner
Your profile
- Education/Credentials/Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- Six Sigma Certification is a plus
- Length of Experience
- At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience related to forging/machining processes, manufacturing, and quality
