Your responsibilities
- Develop detailed shouldcost models for electronic control units and their components (PCBs, semiconductors, sensors, microcontrollers, housings, interconnects).
- Analyze cost structures for SMT assembly, soldering processes, testing, electronic components, and electronic module integration.
- Validate supplier quotations and perform plausibility checks for customer projects and internal initiatives.
- Provide Purchasing with detailed cost breakdowns and technical arguments for supplier negotiations.
- Identify gaps between market pricing and technically justified costs.
- Support supplier evaluations, benchmarking studies, and costperformance assessments.
- Lead or participate in value analysis / value engineering workshops with crossfunctional teams.
- Identify design simplification opportunities, component standardization, and variant reduction.
- Recommend technical changes that improve cost efficiency without compromising performance or quality.
- Build and maintain parametric cost models, cycle-time calculators and electronic component cost databases.
- Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain to understand technical requirements and feasibility.
- Prepare clear and concise presentations for management decisionmaking.
- Support technology evaluations, new supplier scouting and feasibility checks for innovative electronic solutions.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
- Several years of professional experience in electronics manufacturing, cost engineering, development, production planning.
- Solid understanding of electronics components, PCB technologies, SMT assembly, testing processes, and electronic module design.
- Proficiency in costanalysis tools such as Siemens TcPCM or equivalent tools.
- Strong skills in MS Office (Excel expert level) and SAP (materials and costing modules).
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, BOMs, and electronic specifications.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Teamoriented, proactive, and confident personality.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal), additional languages (especially German) are an advantage.
