Summary
The Quality Excellence Engineer leads and implements process improvement initiatives within the organization, focusing on the effective application of Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) and Lean principles to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyze current processes, identify improvement opportunities, and drive strategic initiatives that align with organizational quality objectives. The position plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering value to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Deliverables:
- Apply Lean methodologies together with the Zero Defects strategy laid out by the Quality Assurance Manager. Lead Lean initiatives such as Six Sigma projects, Kaizen and value stream mapping to optimize workflows.
- Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to teams on best practices. Ensure consistent application of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC to enhance quality processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, logistics, production and quality teams to address issues and drive sustainable improvements.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of implemented changes.
- Lead and support implementation of new technologies and projects to optimize workflows and reduce quality costs.
- Conduct Process Audits according to the plant annual audit program, identify weaknesses and improve the plant QMS.
- Key user in Document Management System and Process Management System, training and supporting the plant on those platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
Perfil
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality functions within the automotive industry or related areas. In lieu of degree, 5-7 years of direct experience. Working experience with the Lean Methodology, application of Six Sigma, Kaizen and VSM is preferred.
- Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, OEMs, or employees of organization.
- Technology: Microsoft Office Suite knowledge; SAP/ERP knowledge preferred. Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP-PPAP, FMEA, MSA, 8D, Statistics, GD&T and mechanical manufacturing processes.
- Travel: Occasional travel, up to 10% including international
