Your responsibilities
Summary:
The Shipping/Receiving Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the Shipping and Receiving team and processes in the receipt verification and recording of parts and components that are delivered to the Bilstein Logistics Center (BLC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
- Supervises up to 20 full-time and temporary employees, and ensures they are all properly trained.
- Coordinates manpower to ensure needs are met in the event of an employee absence (i.e. vacation). Interprets specifications and job orders to Material Handlers, and assigns duties.
- Promotes and supports a teamwork approach to achieving goals, ensuring open and effective communication.
- Leads a culture of safety across the warehouse, ensuring that steps are proactively taken to ensure compliance with Company Safety requirements and investigate accidents when needed.
- Ensures the development for Material Handlers through cross-training and monitoring job performance.
- Embraces a continuous improvement approach through effective leadership, with high levels of integrity and performance for his/herself and others.
- Performs as a superior role model for all associates (i.e. attendance).
- Works with dock personnel to resolve receiving, shipping, and storage concerns.
- Ensures inventory accuracy through real-time receiving, auditing, and tracking all inbound non-compliance.
- Maintains an organized and well documented warehouse area.
- Assists in maintaining the current Warehouse Management System; and Warehouse Management module in SAP.
- Checks and unloads all incoming shipments at the Bilstein Logistics Center (BLC).
- Compares information on the packing slip with the purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment.
- Unpacks and breaks down boxes received in to ensure products are placed in the appropriate stock levels before placed back into the warehouse racking system.
- Stages received in parts by identity and labels their assigned location to be relocated to (e.g. quality control, subcontractors, put-aways).
- Interfaces with various tracking websites to download required paperwork for receiving in parts and components.
- Inputs received parts into the computer system (SAP) properly and maintains proper documentation for accounts payable.
- Coordinates with vendors to schedule dock times and maintain a dock schedule.
- Collaborates with the Scheduling team and/or Material Planners to deal with any high priority shipments.
- Receives in returns from the main plant and sub-contractors and ensures that they are inventories and restocked back into racking.
- Works with Warehouse Supervisor to eliminate waste and increase overall efficiencies.
- Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.
- Communicates with Scheduling team to share relevant information pertaining to outbound shipments.
- Monitors and investigates inventory discrepancies to ensure shipment accuracy
- Performs regular and random audits of outbound customers shipment to ensure accuracy prior to delivery of goods to the customer
- Interfaces with various customer websites/applications to ensure shipment preparedness and obtain relevant documentation when necessary.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Your profile
Qualifications & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands. This would include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members.
- Demonstrated understanding of inventory management strategies, as well as inventory transactions and the physical movement of inventory.
- Demonstrated knowledge of transportation management, inventory management, and Customer communication skills.
- Experience working in a warehouse environment safely operating facility material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, pallet jacks, automated storage & retrieval systems, carousel) and picking and packing equipment (e.g. scanner, scale, tape machine).
- Experience operating various stand-up forklifts.
- Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP in WM module preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and multiple tasks.
- Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
- Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
- Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.
- Experience receiving in products using a Warehouse Management System application functionality to input and track products receivied in.
Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
