Your responsibilities
The Senior Quality Engineer position is an essential part of development, coordination, and maintenance of our quality assurance program, with process-specific focus, to ensure product quality with established standards and customer specific requirements, with the expectations of meeting company objectives, facilitating continuous improvement and achieving total customer satisfaction by performing the following duties. This position requires a strong commitment to safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
- Expertise in manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in root cause analysis through investigation, elimination and presentation.
- Monitors quality assurance objectives complementary to company policies and goals.
- Leads preventative initiatives by initiating, coordinating, and investigating through manufacturing process.
- Provides trending analysis on quality performance metrics, lead/support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Quality support for new projects and changes, creation and implementation of robust corrective actions, maintenance and facilitation of deviation database.
- Monitors, supports, and facilitates actions to reduce high scrap rates and costs with the constant goal of prevention at the root cause level.
- Keeps focus on the #1 priority of Quality-protect the customer.
- Recommends updates to process flow, control plans, and PFMEAs.
- Supports customer complaints and assists with investigation into preventative measures of root cause.
- Creates Quality Alerts/Time Limited Work Instructions for production lines.
- Interprets and teaches Quality Assurance’s philosophy on improvement by prevention to production personnel.
- Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities and/or reviews.
- Serves as an escalation point for potential failures identified during Quality Assurance activities using a data-driven approach.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Quality tools and industry standards.
- Has authority to stop processes to correct Quality, Safety or environmental problems, to identify and place suspect product on Quality hold, and to promptly notify supervisory personnel when processes become non-compliant.
- Provides product-specific training to employees.
Your profile
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field plus 4-6 years of industry-related
experience required. - Quality experience preferred
- Automotive experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Thorough understanding of problem-solving and quality tools/techniques
Other Qualifications and Abilities:
IATF 16949, 8-D Analysis, APQP, PPAP, Control Plan, FMEA, SAP, and root-cause analysis
experience preferred.
