Your responsibilities

The Sr. HR Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting a wide range of HR compliance initiatives for thyssenkrupp Materials NA, which operates in 40+ states with over 100 locations. The Sr. HR Compliance Specialist is expected to be well organized, detailed oriented, have strong problem-solving and project management skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines. The successful candidate should be confident, professional, and self-motivated with a keen interest in the ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of an organization. Top candidates will have outstanding presentation and report writing skills, with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. This position is hybrid on site in Southfield, MI. The position will report to the HR Compliance Director.

Key Accountabilities

Assist with maintenance internal audit policies and procedures in
accordance with local and international best practices.
Assist with review of new products, systems, or processes to ensure
compliance.
Support various departments by initiating outreach, collecting, and
coordinating internal HR compliance data.
Manage the administration of highly sensitive and timely legal requirements,
as required.
Ensure complete, accurate, and timely audit information is reported to
management, leadership, or legal.
Prepare high quality reports and/or presentations.
Create process documents to drive consistency among organizations.
Assist with electronic management of investigation reports, including all
relevant supporting documentation.
Easily develop trust and rapport with HR support, legal, and business
leaders.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and uncomfortable
situations.
Assist with tracking changes to federal and state employment laws and
regulations.
Lead distribution and tracking of compliance related documents, such as,
employee handbooks and policy updates.
Assist with audits, collecting and analyzing data, maintenance of electronic
files, development of work instructions, and training.
Support the dissemination of HR policies and compliance-related
information to employees. Assist in ensuring that employees have access to
up-to-date policies and understand their rights and responsibilities.
Support the maintenance and updates of employee handbooks, policies,
and other compliance-related documents.
Assist in conducting audits and reviews of HR processes, practices, and
records to identify compliance gaps. Collaborate with HR Compliance
Director and business HR professionals to address any identified issues or
areas of improvement.
Prepare reports and documentation related to HR compliance activities.
Maintain accurate records of compliance-related initiatives.
Monitor the Company's background checks, drug testing, and I-9
compliance programs to ensure we are executing these according to our
policies and identify any gaps in process.
Respond to requests for information in efficient and timely manner
Lead execution of settlement payments and process as instructed by
internal counsel.
Assist with external counsel on company immigration administration, as
needed.

Your profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years HR experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an HR Compliance role
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and reporting skills
  • Must have strong critical and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience providing Human Resources support in a matrix organization, preferred
  • Knowledge of general processes and practices related to the position
  • Skilled in verbal/written communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to take initiative and achieve results
  • Able to accurately assess, research, and analyze information to make sound decisions
  • Powerpoint presentation skills preferred
  • Experience providing Human Resources support in a matrix organization, preferred
  • Project Management Certification preferred
