ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operates several types of gear cutting and finishing machines, to process gear teeth on inner and outer rings. Execute the most efficient manner of operating machining centers. Organize cell workflow and properly plan necessary machining sequence(s). Meet inspection requirements for compliance to the appropriate company and customer drawings. This is a 3rd shift position.
- Machine set-up along with program downloading and editing fluency. G & M codes, work shifts and setting tool offsets require mathematical equations
- Asset control knowledge ‘Fanuc or Siemens’ interface and the knowledge to navigate the control to improve operations
- Comprehensive understanding of tooling. Knowledge of machining and gear cutting tools and the features the tooling will generate
- Maintain the work cell and environment to premium standards
- Study blueprints or setup instructions to determine gear dimensions and specifications, fixture and cutter to use and machine settings
- Accurately complete appropriate production related paperwork
- Installs work piece holders such as block, risers and clamps on indexing table of machine
- Mount gears, cams or templates, or moves levers to set feed rates and rotation speeds of cutters and workpiece in relation to each other
- Secure and position cutters in cutter-head on spindle or on arbor and bolts fixtures on machine
- Lifts, positions, and secures workpiece to specified cutting angle on arbor, in chuck or in fixture
- Starts machine, turns valve handles, and directs flow of coolant or air against tool and workpiece
- Stops machine after first piece and inspects machined work piece to ensure conformance to specifications
- Properly maintains machine(s) to insure maximum machine performance
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED. Previous Machining experience and practices a must. Blueprint and GD&T Knowledge is necessary.
EXPORT CONTROL: This position requires access to export-controlled technical data or technology. Employment is contingent upon thyssenkrupp's ability to obtain any required export authorization from the appropriate government agency or agencies.
Salary Range: $31.73/hr
