The Danville Forge Production Manager, reports to the Forging Plant Manager and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the forging process, ensuring safety, quality, optimal productivity, and efficiency. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage team leaders and operators, and contribute to the overall success of our manufacturing operations.
- Plan, organize, and oversee the daily forging operations to meet production targets and customer requirements
- Manage shop floor employees within the language of the collective bargaining agreement
- Continuously evaluate production processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality
- Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain on-time delivery
- Lead, coach, and mentor the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and enforce strict quality control standards throughout the forging process to ensure adherence to specifications and standards
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations, reduce waste, and improve efficiency
- Analyze production data, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop action plans to enhance overall performance
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to evaluate and implement new technologies, equipment upgrades, and process enhancements
- Promote a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and promoting a safe working environment
Profil
Education/Length of Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in Manufacturing with at least 5 years of progressive management experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proven experience in production management; preferably in a forging environment
- Strong technical knowledge of forging processes, equipment, and materials
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, process improvement methodologies, and quality control techniques
- Familiarity with safety regulations and the ability to enforce safety standards effectively
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety regulations and practices
- Excellent written and oral language ability
- Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform under stress
