The Forge Engineering Manager reports to the Head of Forging and is responsible for overseeing all Forging Engineering functions including Process, Design, Tooling, and Product Engineering
- Develop forge tooling designs for new parts and improve forge tooling designs for existing parts
- Communicate and collaborate with customer on full life cycle of parts from conception to testing to serial production
- Walk plant floors to observe processes and monitor product from start to finish
- Improve the operational performance by identifying quality and customer needs and assisting the staff in identifying and diagnosing customer, process and quality problems
- Provide Process Engineering Change notices for internal and external customer design changes
- Plan, assign, and distribute work
- Establish priorities
- Instruct and train in methods and procedures
Profil
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Related Field
- 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing required with at least 1-2 years prior management experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of thermal dynamics and forging processes
- Ability to identify areas for process improvement, and implement strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality, to drive process enhancements and resolve technical challenges
- Knowledge of up-to-date industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in forging with proven track record of incorporating into the manufacturing process
- Ability to ensure the feasibility and manufacturability of new products, considering cost, quality, and efficiency aspects
- Ability to lead the process qualification and validation activities for new products, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards
- Ability to Utilize a host of CAD and office software such as Pro-E, AutoCAD, Vero CAD, Anvil, and Forge3
- Excellent written and oral language ability
- Strong mathematical ability, especially in trigonometry
