Aim of the position
As part of the Sales team, the Cost Estimator is responsible for the development of cost estimates for international EP/EPC projects. The position focuses on delivering accurate and structured cost evaluations for complete chemical plants, including associated service scopes. The role involves close coordination with engineering, procurement, and suppliers to reflect technical requirements and market conditions into competitive and reliable cost structures.
Main responsibilities and Contents
- Coordinate and prepare cost estimates from early budget proposals through to binding lump-sum offers, covering studies, service calculations, and full-scope engineering and supply packages.
- Engage and align all relevant engineering disciplines, as well as project management and commercial functions (e.g. commercial, tax, legal), to ensure a comprehensive and consistent estimate.
- Work in close alignment with the proposal team to ensure overall offer consistency and competitiveness.
- Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, validated cost estimates, including coordination with international subsidiaries and partner companies.
- Perform benchmarking against executed and ongoing projects to validate cost assumptions and identify optimization potential.
- Conduct plausibility checks and define key cost drivers and benchmarking KPIs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of cost estimation tools, methodologies, and databases.
- Support alignment activities with subsidiaries and partners, including occasional short business trips.
Profil
Skills, qualifications and abilities
The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or a comparable discipline).
- Several years of professional experience in chemical plant projects or a comparable environment.
- Proficiency in modern PC software and language, especially MS Excel and database systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proactive mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Structured, accurate, and detail-oriented working approach.
- Excellent proficiency in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to undertake occasional short business trips in an international environment.
