Head of Product Engineering

The Head of Product Engineering is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the engineering aspects during product development and product care engineering activities. This role involves setting the technical targets, leading engineering teams and ensuring the successful delivery of cost effective, high-quality product solutions of different Engineering functions that align with the product development goals.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Define and drive the technical targets for product engineering activities, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and manage engineering teams in mechanical engineering, design, electrical engineering, and software engineering, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with product architecture and product lifecycle implementation to prioritize work packages and ensure timely delivery of product milestones and / or change implementation. Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to series release with regards to engineering deliverables.
• Implement best practices for process and mechanical design, electrical engineering, software development, and product development to ensure high-quality and reliable products.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in process, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including further line functions (e.g. plant engineering, manufacturing, procurement, R&D) to ensure cohesive product design solutions and successful product launches.
• Manage product engineering budget for allocated activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective solutions.
• Oversee, perform and lead the product engineering care activities and implementation of product changes into our products.
• Alignment and regular knowledge exchange as well as integration of plant engineering disciplines into product engineering solutions to foster product knowledge during sales, bid and execution phase

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/ Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong background in mechanical and/or process engineering, design or related fields with min. 15 years experience in various relevant technologies and methodologies for product development/engineering.
• Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead a global team. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Preferably experience in agile project management methodologies and understanding of product engineering IT tools (ideally NX, Teamcenter, Comos, etc.). Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
• Passion for innovation and staying ahead of industry trends. Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement
